The Dungeon: Level 16
over 3 years ago – Tue, Oct 20, 2020 at 08:24:53 PM

Hello Heroes,

Level 15 is behind us, and it was one of those duels with a clear winner early on (even if the final margin was not that big): with 66% of the votes, you've chosen the swinging path, and unlocked the additional "Bolas" Item card for the Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts box!

We think that you know what's coming next by now... yes! We'll give you another chance to unlock the losing side of the latest level, too. Download the print & play board, get your fastest d6 die, hide under your table to cover from upcoming snowballs, and perform the Under the Table Throw to hit the target! Then, post a video of your hidden hit as a comment to this Facebook post!

If the community collectively manage to deal a total of at least 20 damage, like hardcore snowball throwers (for example, 20 people dealing 1 damage each would be enough), we will unlock the additional "Snowball Cannon" Item card for the Castle of the Frightening Frosts box!

Click on this image and post a video of your hidden hit in the comments!

What about the previous social stretch goal, though? Well, the wonderful heroes of the social party managed to deal the required 20 damage while performing the Flying Throw (and more, as usual), thus unlocking the additional "Flying Objects" Dungeon card for the Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts box! The videos they are posting each day are more and more amazing, don't miss to check them out (and join in on the fun, if you feel like it)!

Another reminder: in case you've missed, we've created more in-depth preview pages for each of the 4 Dungeon Fighter boxes. Those pages contains a list of the Heroes featured in each box, an explanation of the various throwing gadgets and templates that it contains, and a few examples of the included monsters, bosses, and throwing challenges. If you're pledging for an individual box or maybe just a couple of them, take a good look, it should help you choose which Dungeon Figther boxes you want to receive! Here are the links to the previews for the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms, the Chambers of Malevolent Magma, the Castle of Frightening Frosts, and the Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts!

Whoa! Like the Bolas weapon that you unlocked today, time is flying! We're just a few days from the end our campaign now, but it is not over yet. We have a few more announcements to make! First of all, to celebrate the continuing success of this campaign (now more than 800% funded!) we are unlocking another free component upgrade for all backers: the wooden Life Counters included in each box will now be upgraded to a custom plastic version!

Also, many of you have been asking for a cheaper, digital-only version of Monstronomicon, the standalone dexterity role-playing game that we recently announced as an add-on for this campaign. Well... here it is! To add the digital PDF version of Monstronomicon to your pledge, you simply have to add 17€ to your pledge (during the campaign, or later in the pledge manager).

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for: here comes Level 16 of The Dungeon! Read the story below, choose one of the two options, then submit your votes/comments below this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the main campaign page will be invalid and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

Well, that's a tricky weapon that we found... how does it even work? Seems like we need a lot of skill to make it work. What? No, Val Kylla, you cannot have it. I think Murka should have it, she is much more skilled with these kind of things than you are! And now... what's in store for us next, my dear map... mmm, if we go right we'll face... a "frognado"? What is this, some kind of cheap jungle disaster movie? We'll surely need Murka 100% focused to deal with this! If we really don't want to see such a rare natural phenomenon and we go left, instead, it might indeed be Val Kylla's moment to contact the all-mighty nordic gods and ask how we are supposed to carry around this giant hammer thingy that we'll seemingly find there. That thing looks huge! It will sure be useful.. if we manage to lift it up. Will we be worthy?

Level 16 will see you choose between 1 Item card and 1 Dungeon card[*]. If you will go left, you will unlock the additional “Hammer of the Giants" Item card and the upgraded Ice Barrier throwing gadget for the Castle of Frightening Frosts box. If you will go right, instead, you will unlock the additional “Frognado” Dungeon card and the upgraded Ramp throwing gadget for the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms box.

[*] The Hammer of the Giants will demand you to break the "Ice Barrier" when throwing the die at the target (this is also known as the "Crushing Throw"). This upgraded gadget is made with 4 individual "ice bars" instead of just 2 pieces! In the Frognado dungeon room, instead, you will have to use the Ramp throwing gadget at each round of the fight!

Remember, submit your votes/comments on this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the main campaign page will be invalid and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

Until next time!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

The Dungeon: Level 17
over 3 years ago – Tue, Oct 20, 2020 at 08:24:46 PM

Hello Heroes,

Is this Dungeon endless?! Wow, just WOW! We've been through 16 levels already, and I must say we took some really good decisions so far. On the latest choice, with a meager 53% of the votes, you chose thw swirling amphibians, and unlocked the additional "Frognado" Dungeon card for the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms box!

But the Hammer of the Giants will not be completely left behind: here comes a new throwing challenge (with a twist). Download the print & play board, get your favorite d6 die, then record yourself while you throw the from under your leg and hit the target! Then, post a video of your bendy strike as a comment to this Facebook post! But as we are approaching the final levels of the dungeon, social stretch goals should become a bit more difficult too 😉

The community will have to collectively deal a total of at least 20 damage, like super-agile ninjas (for example, 20 people dealing 1 damage each would be enough), but in order will to unlock the additional "Hammer of the Giants" Item card for the Castle of the Frightening Frosts box, the facebook post for this throwing challenge will also need to reach at least 200 reshares! Let's spread that sweet, sweet dungeon fightin' that you've been doing!

Click on this image to post a video of your throw and help us reach 200 reshares!

In the meantime, the lovely social fighters (with ever increasing ranks) managed to deal more than the required 20 damage while performing the Under the Table Throw, thus unlocking the additional "Snowball Cannon" Item card for the Castle of Frightening Frosts box! Don't miss to check out the videos that are being posted each day... and join in on the fun, if you feel like it!

Another reminder: in case you've missed, we've created more in-depth preview pages for the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms, the Chambers of Malevolent Magma, the Castle of Frightening Frosts, and the Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts! They contain a list of the Heroes featured in each box, an explanation of  the various throwing gadgets and templates that it contains, and a few examples of the included monsters, bosses, and throwing challenges. If you're pledging for an individual box or maybe just a couple of them, take a good look, they should help you choose which Dungeon Figther box(es) you want to receive!

And now, are you ready for Level 17 of The Dungeon? Read the story below, choose one of the two options, then submit your votes/comments below this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the main campaign page will be invalid and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

What was that? Can you believe it? No one will believe it. Oh no, no, relax Aristide, people will believe the songs you've written about it (I should bite my tongue sometimes)! Of course we don't think that all your songs seem to be fake, they are good! Nevermind, everyone is definitely going to believe that we faced a Frognado. Ok, let's move on. We should be approaching the end of this dungeon, at this point... I've checked the map. The next two options will surely make us famous. If we go left, we'll have a second match against the verdant forces of nature... and face the terrible Carnivorose, a giant (and hungry) living plant-monster. I guess this is a kind of rose that Aristide would not want to be gifted after his shows. If we go right, instead, Melissa will definitely feel at home... it seems we will find a proper volcano, eruptions and all!

Level 17 will see you choose between 1 Monster card and 1 Dungeon card[*]. If you will go left, you will unlock the additional “Carnivorose” Monster card for the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms box. If you will go right, instead, you will unlock the additional “Erupting Volcano" Dungeon card for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma box.

[*] In the Erupting Volcano room you will have to place the plastic Volcano gadget at the center of the target: it will cover some of the most valuable hit areas, but it will also rewardyou with an insta-kill if you manage to get your die land inside the volcano. The Carnivorose, instead, will have you place the 4 Wall of Thorns around the target at the beginning of the fight (1 Wall of Thorns between each couple of bones, touching the perimeter of the target); they'll act as both an obstacle and a resource: they can help you keep your die inside the target if you overshoot (if you get past, of course)... but if you touch them, you'll also take some damage (you know... thorns).

>>>>> ONE FINAL NOTE: We will be taking yet another small break tomorrow. The Dungeon will be back on monday! Have a nice weekend!

Until next time!

The Dungeon: Level 18
over 3 years ago – Tue, Oct 20, 2020 at 08:24:44 PM

Hello Heroes,

we would like to start today's update with another gift for all backers. We're fast approaching the "1000% funded" achievement, and we would like to thank you all for the amazing support you've given us so far with another free stretch goal: a Kickstarter-exclusive Hero

Introducing... Betty Loudscream! This "vampire metal queen" has a chilling self-healing skill: her "Blood Donation" ability allows her to "kindly ask" one of her teammates to "willingly donate" some of their life energy to her: before a fight, Betty can have one of the other party members to lose 1 HP; if she does, she will gain 2 HP in return for this generous sacrifice! 1 copy of this KS-exclusive Hero will be included with each pledge at the "Hero" level or higher!

Yes, we will look into the font used in the game and make it easier to read ;-P

Coming to yesterday's chapter of The Dungeon, the competition for Level 17 was the closest we've ever seen! With a tiny 51% of the votes (and a gap of only around 10 votes!) the thorny path just barely won over the volcanic promenade! You unlocked the additional "Carnivorose" Monster card and the 4 Wall of Thorns gadgets for the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms box!

We're in the final hours of the campaign, and this means that we need all your help to spread the news as much as possible! This is why the next social stretch goal will be a simpler one: we will unlock the additional "Erupting Volcano" Dungeon card and the Volcano gadget for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma box if we will reach 100 reshares on this facebook post!

Click on this image to go straight to the facebook post and help us reach 100 reshares!

In the meantime, the brave dungeon fighters on Facebook gave their best and once again dealt more than the required 20 damage while performing the Under the Leg Throw, but we're still missing slightly more than 150 reshares on that same post before we reach 200 reshares, the second requirement needed to unlock the additional "Hammer of the Giants" Item card and the upgraded Crushing Throw gadget for the Castle of Frightening Frosts box! We can do it, keep those reshares coming! 😉

Click on this image to go straight to the facebook post and help us reach 200 reshares!

Remember that we will soon be livestreaming a special Dungeon Fighter episode of Creator VS the Game, our livestreamed web-series where our lead designers Lorenzo Silva (who is also one of the designers of Dungeon Fighter) and Hjalmar Hach play board games with other several guests and interact with your  comments... in real time! Tune in at 17:00 CEST / 11 am EDT (in just about 15 minutes) on our YouTube, Facebook, or Twitch channels and watch our designers and their guests play a special virtual version of Dungeon Fighter, trying to throw virtual dice with a computer mouse handled from under their leg with their eyes closed (and other crazy shenanigans)! They will also answer to your questions and comments... in real time, of course!

Before we move on to the latest chapter of The Dungeon, in case you've missed the previous reminders: we've created more in-depth preview pages for the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms, the Chambers of Malevolent Magma, the Castle of Frightening Frosts, and the Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts!  They contain a list of the Heroes featured in each box, an explanation of the various throwing gadgets and templates that it contains, and a few examples of the included monsters, bosses, and throwing challenges. If you're pledging for an individual box or maybe just a couple of them, take a good look, they should help you choose which Dungeon Fighter box(es) you want to receive!

And now, are you ready for Level 18 of The Dungeon? Read the story below, choose one of the two options, then submit your votes/comments below this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the main campaign page will be invalid and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

That Carnivorose monster was surely tricky, wasn't... ouch! Lanky! Can you be a bit more gentle while you remove those thorns from my... sitting parts, please? So much for the "delicate touch" of the elves... ouch! Let me check the map, maybe it will distract me from the... OUCH! LANKY!

[a few painful minutes later]

Things are getting trickier, adventurers... we'll have to face weird new hurdles no matter what. If we go OUCH! Erm... I mean, if we go left, we'll find some kind of mystical fountain. The map just says "beware of this juicy red nectar, you'll never want to leave"... mmm, it doesn't seem that OUCH! Lanky, come on! If we go right, instead, things are definitely getting spookier: there's a cursed cemetery, and the map only says "everything is confused in here".

Level 18 will see you choose between 2 Dungeon cards with 2 new throwing gadgets[*]. If you will go left, you will unlock the additional “Fountain of Wine” Dungeon card and the "Cup Throw" gadget for the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms box. If you will go right, instead, you will unlock the additional “Foggy Cemetery" Dungeon card and the Prismatic Lens gadget for the Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts box.

[*] When at the Fountain of Wine, you'll have to perform the Cup Throw at each round of the fight, i.e., put your dice inside the new Cup gadget and throw it with that. When in the Foggy Cemetery, instead, you'll have to close one eye and look into the Prismatic Lens gadget with the other while you throw... ghosts are not easy to see, you know...

See you tomorrow for the final chapter of the Dungeon!

Until next time!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

The Dungeon: Level 14
over 3 years ago – Thu, Oct 15, 2020 at 12:47:58 AM

Hello Heroes,

Well, Level 13 is past due and we're pleased to see that you are starting to care about our poor narrator... you have chosen the non-frosty path this time, with 62% of the votes! The Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts box will now include the additional "Hall of Mirrors" Dungeon card! No room for mistakes with that many mirrors around, right?

Sometimes we get a little sad for our vote clash losers, like if they didn't have what it takes. So for our next "throwing challenge" we decided to make this latest social stretch goal more appealing: in addition to the "Frozen Waterfall" Dungeon card, we'll also include an upgraded Waterfall throwing gadget made with plastic instead of cardboard! Download the print & play board, get your most slippery d6 die, then record yourself while you make your die slide off your hand (or a ruler, or something like that), make it bounce on the table, and hit the target! Then, post a video of your swimming skills as a comment to this Facebook post!

If the community collectively manage to deal a total of at least 20 damage, like a team of olympic athletes (for example, 20 people dealing 1 damage each would be enough), we will unlock the additional "Waterfall" Dungeon card and the upgraded Waterfall throwing gadget for the Castle of Frightening Frosts box!

Click on this image and post a video of your swimming skills in the comments!

Meanwhile on Facebook, the faithful target hitters of the social squad managed once again to deal more than the required 20 damage while performing the Ricochet Throw, thus unlocking the additional "Black Swan Goblin" Monster card for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma box! We received another nice batch of impressive throws, don't miss to check out the videos that are being posted daily on our facebook challenges!

After presenting you the in-depth previews of the Chambers of Malevolent Magma and the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms, today we publish the third preview: the Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts! These pages contain a list of the Heroes featured in each box, an explanation of the various throwing gadgets and templates that they contain, and a few examples of the included monsters, bosses, and throwing challenges. If you're pledging for an individual box or maybe just a couple of them, take a good look, they should help you choose which Dungeon Figther boxes you want to receive! The last preview page will be published tomorrow!

And now, are you ready for Level 14 of The Dungeon? Read the story below, choose one of the two options, then submit your votes/comments below this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the main campaign page will be invalid and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

Can someone please get Torm out of the Hall of Mirrors? That guy just can't get enough of his own reflection... can you believe he left his small dagger behind, just to carry that tiny mirror with him instead? Well, I don't see Torm smashing the skull of a monster with that hand mirror. Since we're down on weapons now, maybe we should take the next left. I recognize a weird sword on the map, it might be helpful later... What do you mean with "let's hear the other option"? No, there's no ice room there, I'm not trying to influence you again. I just don't see anything on the map... or down the corridor. That's what worries me, I know there's something there, I can almost feel it, and I'm hearing some weird sounds of furniture moving around... there's probably a spooky curse going on down there.

Level 14 will see you choose between 1 Item card and 1 Dungeon card[*]. If you will go left, you will unlock the additional “Wooden Sword" Item card for the Labyrinth of  Sinister Storms box. If you will go right, instead, you will unlock the additional “Flying Objects” Dungeon card for the Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts box.

[*] The Wooden Sword will allow you to throw the Giant Wooden die at the target, instead of the regular dice. The Flying Objects room, instead, will force you you to place the Flying Stand below the target at the start of the fight... this means that you'll need to get higher bounces with your die to hit the "flying" target!

Remember, submit your votes/comments on this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the main campaign page will be invalid and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

Until next time!
