Latest Updates from Our Project:

Introducing a new crazy add-on... Monstronomicon!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Oct 14, 2020 at 08:31:07 PM

Hello again heroes,

we are glad to announce something different today. Something bigger. Something that plays by its own rules. It is a whole new project: Monstronomicon, a dexterity role-playing game set in the world of Dungeon Fighter!

In such a solemn occasion, we invited an old “friend” of ours to expose this new, monstruous add-on that you can add to your pledge. This fellow has an ancient expertise as a salesperson and – let’s face it – he is quite talented. We hope you’ll enjoy.

Adventurers!

I want to share with you years and years of personal study and research, which I have developed all by myself, moving through countless dungeons (magically appearing in them, actually), meeting all kind of heroes and monsters, and selling the most precious loot.

I have recollected all of my intel and infos in one, precious text: the Monstronomicon! More than 150 fully colored pages with hero classes, creature descriptions, deep Dungeon Fighter lore, and over a hundred of amazing artworks. But this is not a book for reading only. It’s a book for playing. Build your own adventure: become a fierce Warrior and strike your enemies with powerful hits and amazing dice throws! Picture yourself as a Wizard and blast the horrid creatures with your magic attacks! Unleash your fury as a Barbarian and annihilate hordes of low-level goblins with your might! Or be the Bard. If you are that kind of self-centered dude, just play the Bard. It’s fine. You have like 15 possible hero classes, and you have chosen the Bard. Oooooook, man.

But playing your adventure may not be as easy it seems. Dexterity is obviously highly involved. You can play as a Barbarian, but can you play like a Barbarian? Can you throw your die from above your head, just like a Barbarian that slays an Orc? Can you drop two dice at once on the target with your left and right hands, just like the Alchemist brews his magic potions?

Each class is unique and every situation plays by its own rules. You want to hide from that giant Bullrog that entered the cave? Throw the die on the target from under the table. You’re facing the petrifying gaze of Medusa? Roll with your eyes closed and hope to defeat her. Will you jump that ravine, jumping from your carpet to the sofa? It’s up to you. And the die, obviously.

Each situation is highly narrative driven in the challenges you will face. The Supreme Dungeon Mastermind (the narrator formerly known as Dungeon Master) will play a big role in this challenge, too. May not be so easy to avoid the bear trap the SDM (Supreme Dungeon Mastermind) has just placed before your path, if you have to roll the dice while quickly lifting your foot.

At the same time, keep in mind that the SDM has to play just like you do. Your SDM has never used his own hands, except for eating? That Ancient Dragon is gonna go down like the most fearful Goblin. Your SDM is a circus contortionist? You’re probably screwed.

But don’t get bummed if the last fight didn’t go well. The Monstronomicon dexterity role-playing game it’s all about fun, comedy and just having a good time, and all its game mechanics revolve around this concept. Don’t think at your party as some supercool ring destroyers, think at yourselves as a motley crew. Not the band, obviously. They are uber-cool, definitely out of your league (sorry).

I'll leave to the wonderful chaps at Horrible to deal with the finer business details.

Yours truly,

the honest and always well-intentioned Shopkeeper

We hope our “friend” has made everything clear. Anyhow, here’s a recap: Monstronomicon is a hardcover rulebook for a whole new dexterity role-playing game set in the world of Dungeon Fighter, with more than 150 pages, 100 artworks, 15 hero classes, dozens of monsters, bosses and items, as well as background info, trivia and lore.

Each copy features its own foldable target, so that you do not need a copy of the Dungeon Fighter board games to play. Monstronomicon is a completely standalone game: a dexterity role playing experience to play with your friends with an easy, accessible, and streamlined set of rules that will bring your party to the funniest, silliest and unexpected of all role playing experiences.

To add Monstronomicon to your pledge, you simply have to add 35€ to your pledge (during the campaign, or later in the pledge manager). You can also download a preview excerpt of the book by clicking on the button below.

Well, that was quite unexpected, wasn't it? We hope you'll enjoy this surprise announcement. See you tomorrow for a new chapter of The Dungeon (and keep posting those tasty throws on Facebook)!

Until next time!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

The Dungeon: Level 12
over 3 years ago – Wed, Oct 14, 2020 at 04:57:40 PM

Hello Heroes,

in Level 11 there was again one option that proved to be much popular than the other... with 76% of the votes, you chose to make a trip into the Underworld! The Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts box will now include the additional "Ferryman of Souls" Monster card!

Another loss for the lavamancing faction! It seems you'll have to resort to another "throwing challenge" social stretch goal! Download the print & play board, get your hottest d6 die, a mousepad / playmat (or some other kind of soft surface), then record yourself while you throw a die, make it bounce on a makeshift "Lava Pad", and hit the target! Then, post a video of your fiery furor as a comment to this Facebook post!

If the community will collectively manage to deal a total of at least 20 damage, like a brigade of fearless fire fighters (for example, 20 people dealing 1 damage each would be enough), we will unlock the additional "Lava Monster" Monster card for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma box!

Click on this image and post a video of your fiery furor in the comments!

In the meantime, the brave dungeon fighters of the "social team" managed to deal at least 20 damage throwing the die throw a "Gate of Cards" over the weekend, and this means that the additional "Goblinpalooza" Dungeon Card for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma has been unlocked!

Before we move on to the next chapter of our stretch goal adventure, a special announcement: starting from today, we will be publishing a more in-depth description of the contents of each Dungeon Fighter box on our website: a full list of the Heroes featured in the box, an explanation of the various throwing gadgets and templates that it contains, and a few examples of the included monsters, bosses, and throwing challenges. This should help you choose which Dungeon Figther boxes you want to receive with your pledge! Today we start with the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms, and a new box will be added to our website each day for the next three days.

And now, it's finally time for Level 12 of The Dungeon! Read the story below, choose one of the two options, then submit your votes/comments below this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the  main campaign page will be invalid and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post  your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

Well, you could say many things about that Ferryman of Souls guy, but he isn't cheap for sure! The transportation service of the underworld would surely benefit from a little bit of healthy competition... it's no use crying over spent gold, though. Time to move on! O map, tell us where we shall go next...mmm, fire or ice again, uh? If we go left, we'll find a... black swan? In a volcanic chamber? This map is wrong, isn't it? If we go right, instead... penguins and catapults? What is this, a joke? Are we on Candid Dungeon?

You're in for a couple of weird treats today! For Level 12 of The Dungeon, you will have to choose again between two different Monster cards[*]! If you will go left, you will unlock the additional “Black Swan Goblin" Monster card for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma box. If you will go right, instead, you will unlock the additional “Catapenguin Squad” Monster card for the Castle of Frightening Frosts box.

[*] The Black Swan Goblin will force you to perform the Pirouette Throw during each round of the fight. The Catapenguin Squad, instead, will have you perform the Catapult Throw for the whole duration of the fight.

Remember, submit your votes/comments on this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the main campaign page will be invalid  and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

Until next time!

The Dungeon: Level 13
over 3 years ago – Wed, Oct 14, 2020 at 04:57:23 PM

Hello Heroes,

Level 12 was one of the tightest votes so far... the dancing goblin has been leading in the polls for most of the time, but after an exciting comeback, the penguin paratroopers prevailed with just 53% of the votes! The Castle of Frightening Frosts box will now include the additional "Catapenguin Squad" Monster card!

Yes, that's right, it's yet another loss for team magma! But don't fret, there's a new "throwing challenge" social stretch goal for you! Download the print & play board, get your bounciest d6 die, a cardboard box, then record yourself while you throw a die, make it bounce on the table, ricochet on the box, and hit the target! Then, post a video of your roaring rebound as a comment to this Facebook post!

If the community will collectively manage to deal a total of at least 20 damage, like really badass pool players (for example, 20 people dealing 1 damage each would be enough), we will unlock the additional "Black Swan Goblin" Monster card for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma box!

Click on this image and post a video of your roaring rebound in the comments!

On the social front, the fearless dice throwers of the facebook brigade managed to deal much more than the required 20 damage throwing the die on a soft mat, thus unlocking the additional "Lava Monster" Monster card for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma box! Even if you don't plan to join the social fun, you should really check out the videos that are being posted each day: you'll find a lot of really impressive throws!

We have one more announcement today: some of you may already be familiar with Creator VS the Game, a livestreamed web-series where our lead designers Lorenzo Silva (who is also one of the designers of Dungeon Fighter) and Hjalmar Hach play board games with other game creators and interact with your comments... in real time! Well, we have a special episode coming on October 19th at 17:00 CEST / 11am EDT: Lorenzo and Hjalmar will play a wacky digital version of... well, isn't it obvious? Dungeon Fighter, of course! Tune in on our YouTube, Facebook, or Twitch channels and watch our designers try to throw virtual die with a computer mouse handled from under their leg! Will they beat the final boss? Will they reach the final boss? Will they even survive the first encounter? Only time will tell! The funniest part will be reading your comments and answering to your questions during the livestream, of course!

Before we move on to the next chapter of our stretch goal adventure, here's also the link to a new in-depth description of a Dungeon Fighter box: the Chambers of Malevolent Magma! And in case you missed it, here's also the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms that we published yesterday. These pages contain a full list of the Heroes featured in each box, an explanation of the various throwing gadgets and templates that it contains, and a few examples of the included monsters, bosses, and throwing challenges. This should help you choose which Dungeon Figther boxes you want to receive with your  pledge! The next two pages will be published in the next couple of days!

Are you ready for Level 13 of The Dungeon? Read the story below, choose one of the two options, then submit your votes/comments below this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the main campaign page will be invalid and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

You will make me lose a limb or two to frostbite, I'm telling you! This place is so cold... brrr! I never thought I would see flying penguins one day, though, I'll give you that. Now let me check the map and let's get out of... oh, no. Not again. Please, please, let's go left! There's a pretty neat "Hall of Mirrors", and it seems our chances to reap greater rewards from monsters are much higher there! So, we all agree, right? We go left! Uh? "What if we go right?" you say? Nothing interesting, really... we should really go left, trust me. There's nothing "right" with freaking frozen waterfalls.

Level 13 will see you choose between 2 different Dungeon cards[*]. If you will go left, you will unlock the additional “Hall of Mirrors" Dungeon card for the Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts box. If you will go right, instead, you will unlock the additional “Frozen Waterfall” Dungeon card for the Castle of Frightening Frosts box.

[*] The Hall of Mirrors will have you to throw the Last Strike template at the beginning of the fight; if your die lands of the Last Strike template, you will automatically collect the Last Strike rewards of the current monster at the end of the fight, even if your final hit does not meet the last strike requirements. The Frozen Waterfall, instead, will force you to perform the Waterfall throw at each round of the fight, which means that you have to make the die roll down the Waterfall throwing gadget instead of a regular throw.

The Dungeon: Level 11
over 3 years ago – Mon, Oct 12, 2020 at 12:47:52 AM

Hello Heroes,

after two close confrontations Level 10 proved to be a one-sided affair pretty early on. With an overwhelming 81% of the votes, you chose the quiet path! The Labyrinth of Sinister Storms box will now include the additional "Silent Library" Dungeon card!

Don't bang your heads on a metal surface, music lovers! We have another quirky "throwing challenge" social stretch goal for you! Download the print & play board, get your heaviest d6 die, take two playing cards and make a "gate", then record yourself while you throw a die through a "Gate of Cards" and hit the target! Then, post a video of your masterful move as a comment to this Facebook post!

If the community will collectively manage to deal a total of at least 20 damage, like a guild of precise fencers (for example, 20 people dealing 1 damage each would be enough), we will unlock the additional "Goblinpalooza" Dungeon card for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma box!

Click on this image and post a video of your masterful move in the comments!

In other news, yesterday's "Ring of Fingers" challenge has already been completed, with 20 damage already dealt (and some really fancy dice on show), and this means that the upgraded Pond throwing gadget for the Castle of Frightening Frosts has been unlocked! Meanwhile, the Boss fight against the Penkuing (with a whopping 40 damage to deal) was also concluded, with more than 40 damage dealt while performing the Knee Throw... the "Penkuing" Boss card for the Castle of Frightening Frosts Box has also been unlocked!

And now, are you ready for Level 11 of The Dungeon? Read the story below, choose one of the two options, then submit your votes/comments below this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the main campaign page will be invalid and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

[whispering] See? You've made Aristide cry! He's such a sensitive person... don't worry, Aristide we'll go the the goblin concert another time. What? Yes, soon. Ok, let's... what? No, I don't think they would have played many romantic ballads anyway. And please try to sob quietly, we're in a library, and the librarian is a sleeping manticore. Now let me take the... no, Aristide, you can't sing a romantic ballad right now, are you nuts? Just give me a sec, let me check the map and let's get out of there, then you'll be allowed to sing all of your favorite songs. And you others, look around and see if you can find any useful tomes lying around here...

[a few extremely quiet minutes later]

[still whispering] Well, well, look at these lovely manuals you've found... "The Art of Swordfencing"... "Pickpocketing Tips for Expert Dungeon-Dwellers"... "Nanny Ogg's Extremely Well-Written Potion Recipes"... "Fireball! Powerful Spells for Ambitious and Slightly Irresponsible Wizards"... "Advanced Trigonometry for Barbarian Axe-Wielders" (this would be perfect for you, Torm, if you could only read)... we could all learn a trick or twenty from these books. Well done, team! Now, let's get out of here before the "librarian" wakes up... not that what lies ahead isn't dangerous, mind you. If we go left, we'll have to fight a scorching Lava Monster; if we go right, instead, we'll have to face the spooky Ferryman of Souls... where do we go, heroes?

For Level 11 of The Dungeon, you will have to choose between two different third-level Monster cards[*]! If you will go left, you will unlock the additional “Lava Monster" Monster card for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma box. If you will go right, instead, you will unlock the additional “Ferryman of Souls” Monster card for the Catacombs of Gloomy Ghosts box.

[*] The Lava Monster will force you to use the previously unlocked Lava Pad during each round of the fight. The Ferryman of Souls, instead, will have you throw the Coin die (a "d2" die) for the whole duration of the fight. Note that when you throw the Coin die, you must throw it like a regular die, not make a typical "coin flip"!

>>>>> ONE FINAL NOTE: We will be taking another small break tomorrow. The Dungeon will be back on monday! Have a nice weekend!

Until next time!

The Dungeon: Level 10
over 3 years ago – Fri, Oct 09, 2020 at 11:57:02 PM

Hello Heroes,

it was another very close battle in Level 9! Two upgraded gadgets, only one winner... and lots of Johnny Cash fans, according to the many quotes from a certain famous song! With just 54% of the votes, you chose fire! The Chambers of Malevolent Magma box will now include an upgraded "Ring of Fire" throwing gadget made with plastic instead of cardboard!

But you can relax, pond-dwellers! There's a new "throwing challenge" social stretch goal for you! Download the print & play board, get your fanciest d6 die, and warm up your fingers before you record yourself while you throw a die through a "Ring of Fingers" and hit the target! Then, post a video of your swift strike as a comment to this Facebook post!

If the community will collectively manage to deal a total of at least 20 damage, like a crew of expert sailors (for example, 20 people dealing 1 damage each would be enough), we will unlock the upgraded Pond throwing gadget for the Castle of Frightening Frosts box!

Click on this image and post a video of your swift strike in the comments!

In other news, your first "throwing challenge stretch goal" against a Boss (with a whopping 40 damage to deal) is also at a good point, with more than half of the required 40 damage dealt while performing the Knee Throw already dealt... a few more attacks and you will unlock the "Penkuing" Boss card for the Castle of Frightening Frosts Box! You can do it, we believe in you!

Click on this image and post a video of your athletic attack in the comments!

And now, are you ready for Level 10 of The Dungeon? Read the story below, choose one of the two options, then submit your votes/comments below this update, NOT on the main campaign page! Votes posted on the main campaign page will be invalid and WON'T BE COUNTED. We repeat: post your votes on THIS UPDATE ONLY!

Friends, I am sincerely moved... you finally brought me to a fire room! I'm overjoyed, finally a bit of warm for my frozen limbs! Now I just need to look at the map without letting it catch on fire... mmm mmm... ok, this is a weird crossroads. If we go left, we'll go to a place called "Silent Library". Maybe we will find some forgotten knowledge that will help us to improve our fighting skills, but it also looks like a deceptively dangerous place, if the skulls and the "don't go there" sign on the map are supposed to mean anything. On the other hand, if we go right, I think we'll make our bard Aristide very happy... there are a lot of music notes sketched on the map, they're probably playing music there. It seems we won't even have to buy tickets!

For Level 10 of The Dungeon, you will have to choose between two different Dungeon cards[*]! If you will go left, you will unlock the additional “Silent Library" Dungeon card for the Labyrinth of Sinister Storms box. If you will go right, instead, you will unlock the additional “Goblinpalooza” Dungeon card for the Chambers of Malevolent Magma box.

[*] In the Silent Library, the monster you are fighting that round will gain an additional 5 HP (so you will need to deal 5 more damage to defeat them), but after the fight all Heroes will gain a free Level Up (if they survive the fight, that is). When fighting at Goblinpalooza, instead, all Heroes will be forced to throw the Metal die each round, but the party will gain an additional 2 gold coins after the fight.
